Solid wood is the premium choice of real wood floors, although sensitive to moisture levels and therefore expansion & contraction, if the floor is prepared properly and the wood laid correctly, will last for years.

Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood flooring consists of a real wood veneer wear layer that provides the look of real wood bonded to a multi board backing which adds strength and stability. Engineered wood floors are more stable than solid wood floors, and are easier to lay for the average DIYer.

Solid Wood Profiles and Thresholds
As all solid wood floor fitters should know, an expansion gap must be left all the way around the room or area. The flooring should not come into contact with any walls, skirting boards, door frames, pipes or fire surrounds. If flooring is being continued through from one room to another an expansion gap should be left to allow movement of the floor between the two rooms. A profile should be used where an expansion gap is left or the fitted floor finishes against another. RGN Flooring Supplies stocks profiles to match most species of wood and transition heights. Solid wood ramps to cover floors with differing heights, t-bars for level floors. RGN Flooring Supplies hold stock of solid wood scotia for the expansion gap left around the perimeter of the room.
All of our solid wood profiles are available in unfinished or finished wood. RGN Flooring Supplies provides an in-house bespoke wood staining service.This service means we can match your profiles to most species and colour of wood flooring. Blanchon hard wax oils and lacquers are used in this process.
Laminate Wood Flooring
Laminate Flooring is similar to wood flooring but is made from a type of fibreboard topped with a high definision photo of wood and a tough wear layer on top. It is a good, economical alternative to real or engineered wood, offering easy installation and high durability. As well as popular effects such as oak & walnut effect laminate flooring, we also have some other choices available, including white laminate flooring, slate laminate flooring, and tile effect laminate flooring.
